about
Ordinary is a commentary on the current political and social environment that we have been forced to endure the last few years. The narrative is from the point of view of the average ordinary person witnessing the crazy world around them and asking, “what can I do?” Aggressive lyrics and thick instrumental orchestration give voice to the feelings of helplessness, frustration, and anger felt by so many around our country, and ultimately the world.
lyrics
A drop in the ocean, a single grain of sand
Another face in the crowd without a stone in hand
Extraordinary times make ordinary minds
We’re desensitized, unmotivated, polarized, humiliated
We’re ordinary people in extraordinary times
A planet of hate a crime a senseless paradigm
We witness tragedies, travesties through a telescopic lens
Thoughts and prayers and post and shares do nothing to make amends
But if sense replaced these shipments of rhetoric and riddance
We could free a world afflicted with compassionate indifference
We’re removed and apathetic like a localized anesthetic
It all seems so poetic it’s not a hypothetic
I scream without a voice
Dream that I have any choice
What can I do now
What can I do
What can I do now
We promote hypocrisy parading as democracy
Policy not morality, fallacy not reality
The only things that I can see is errant abnormality
Straying from the solace seen in reason and rationality
The breaking news is breaking my brain in two
I’m stressing and straining to see the forest for the trees
But the leaves are fading
To match my dimming confidence in common sense and competence
The consequence has blinded me
Averted eyes refuse to see
I scream without a voice
Dream that I have any choice
What can I do now
What can I do
What can I do now
I’m ordinary
It’s hard enough to just exist
Our hearts and can and bust but it’s
An emphasis on selfishness
When left to fate our world is shit
All that evil needs to succeed
Is our belief that we are free
When it comes to this we won’t resist
Well just dismiss it so this
Call to the abyss is proof that
Ignorance is bliss
Its ok this is ordinary now
Its ok this is ordinary now
Its ok this is ordinary now
All this fucked up shit is ordinary now
I scream without a voice
Dream that I have any choice
What can I do now
What can I do
What can I do now
I’m ordinary
I’m ordinary
I’m ordinary
I’m ordinary
